Instructions for Cajun Shrimp Pasta
Cook the Pasta:
- Begin by cooking the pasta according to the instructions on the box. While the pasta is simmering away, you can move on to the next steps. Feel free to use your pasta of choice. I have typically used penne, but feel free to use your favorite kind.
Prepare the Smoked Sausage:
- Slice the pre-cooked smoked sausage into bite-sized pieces. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the sausage slices on each side until they achieve a golden perfection. Once done, set the sausage aside.
Create the Creamy Cajun Sauce:
- In the same skillet, pour in the heavy cream and stir. Allow it to bubble and thicken while continuing to stir to prevent burning.
Add Cajun Seasoning to Taste:
- Introduce Cajun seasoning into the mix, starting with 2 tablespoons. Taste the sauce and add more seasoning according to your preferences. This step ensures you achieve the perfect balance of spice.
Melt Parmesan Cheese into the Sauce:
- Once the cream sauce has thickened to your liking and is well-seasoned, add the shredded Parmesan cheese. Stir until the cheese is fully melted, and the sauce attains a smooth and creamy consistency.
Combine Pasta, Sauce, and Sausage:
- Drain the perfectly cooked pasta and add it to the luxurious Cajun cream sauce. Reintroduce the browned sausage into the pan, stirring all the components together. Ensure each piece of pasta is coated in the flavorful sauce and complemented by savory sausage pieces.
Serve and Enjoy:
- Dish out the Creamy Cajun Sausage Pasta into plates and serve promptly while it's still piping hot. Revel in the harmonious blend of creamy textures, bold Cajun flavors, and the hearty goodness of smoked sausage. Get ready for a dining experience that feels like a culinary masterpiece.

Mallory
Loooved this! I made this for my sister who is nursing newborn twins and she ATE this up. A lot of recipes like this have soooo much butter so we appreciated that this didn’t!
However, we decided that for a pound of pasta we’d probably put more sausage in. Maybe 1.5x the recipe or maybe even 2x. We had peas on the side and they went perfectly 🙌🏼
Thanks for the easy recipe!!
