Chocolate Protein Chia Pudding is my new favorite breakfast and sweet treat dupe! It’s rich, creamy, chocolatey, and has just the right amount of peanut butter flavor. It tastes like an indulgent chocolate pudding, but it’s made with simple ingredients and packed with protein.
If you’re someone who loves having a little something sweet after dinner—or you’re looking for a breakfast that feels like dessert—this one is for you. The best part? You can prep it the night before and have an easy, protein-packed breakfast waiting for you in the fridge.
Why You’ll Love This Chocolate Protein Chia Pudding
Traditional chia pudding can sometimes have a texture that isn't for everyone. That's why I blend the chia seeds before adding the rest of the ingredients. It breaks the seeds down into smaller pieces and creates a much smoother, creamier pudding texture.
The combination of chocolate protein powder, cocoa powder, PBfit, and maple syrup makes this taste like a chocolate peanut butter dessert. It's seriously SO good.
And while I love eating it for breakfast, don't let the breakfast label fool you—this makes an amazing high-protein sweet treat any time of day.

Ingredients for Chocolate Protein Chia Pudding
You only need six simple ingredients to make this Chocolate Protein Chia Pudding:
- ¾ cup almond milk – Regular milk works great, too. Use whichever milk you prefer.
- 2 tablespoons chia seeds – These thicken the pudding and add fiber.
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder – I use Transparent Labs Milk Chocolate protein powder.
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder – Adds a rich, deep chocolate flavor.
- 1 tablespoon PBfit powder – Gives the pudding a delicious peanut butter flavor.
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup – Adds a little sweetness to balance the cocoa powder.
How to Make Chocolate Protein Chia Pudding
Step 1: Blend the Milk and Chia Seeds
Add the almond milk and chia seeds to a small handheld blender.
Blend for about 1–2 minutes, or until the chia seeds have broken down into smaller pieces.
Don't skip this step if you want a smoother pudding! Blending the chia seeds helps create that creamy, pudding-like texture.
Step 2: Add the Chocolate Ingredients
Add the chocolate protein powder, cocoa powder, PBfit powder, and maple syrup to the blender.
Blend everything together for about 3 minutes, or until the mixture is completely smooth and well incorporated.
Step 3: Refrigerate
Pour the Chocolate Protein Chia Pudding into a glass dish or container.
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, although I personally recommend letting it sit overnight. The longer it chills, the thicker it will become.
Step 4: Add Your Favorite Toppings
Once your Chocolate Protein Chia Pudding has thickened, give it a quick stir and dig in!
You can enjoy it as-is, or add some fun toppings. A drizzle of peanut butter, mini chocolate chips, fresh berries, whipped cream, or a sprinkle of cocoa powder would all be delicious.

Tips for Making Chocolate Protein Chia Pudding
Blend your chia seeds. This is my biggest tip! If you aren't a fan of the texture of traditional chia pudding, blending the seeds makes a huge difference.
Let it chill overnight. You can enjoy it after a couple of hours, but overnight is even better. It gives the chia seeds plenty of time to absorb the liquid and thicken the pudding.
Use your favorite protein powder. I use Transparent Labs Milk Chocolate, but you can use whatever chocolate protein powder you have on hand. Keep in mind that different protein powders vary in sweetness, so you may want to adjust the maple syrup.
Make it ahead. Chocolate Protein Chia Pudding is perfect for meal prep. Make a few servings ahead of time and keep them in the fridge for an easy breakfast or sweet snack.
Is Chocolate Protein Chia Pudding Good for Breakfast?
Absolutely! I love this recipe for breakfast because it feels like I'm eating dessert first thing in the morning. The combination of chia seeds and protein powder makes it a filling option, while the chocolate flavor satisfies my sweet tooth.
It's also a great option for those mornings when you don't want to cook. Just grab it from the fridge, add your favorite toppings, and you're ready to go.
