Chocolate, caramelized bananas, creamy Greek yogurt, and a little marshmallow creme come together to make this Chocolate Banana Nice Cream. It’s rich, creamy, and tastes like a decadent dessert, but it comes together with just a handful of simple ingredients.
If you love chocolate-covered bananas, you’re going to want to make this one.
Why You'll Love This Chocolate Banana Nice Cream
This recipe is one of those sweet treats that feels way more indulgent than it actually is. Instead of freezing a banana and blending it in a food processor like traditional nice cream, we’re taking an extra step that makes a BIG difference: caramelizing the banana first.
Cooking the banana brings out its natural sweetness and gives it those delicious golden, caramelized edges. Then we add melted dark chocolate, creamy vanilla Greek yogurt, and optional marshmallow creme for an extra sweet, fluffy finish.
The result is creamy, chocolatey, and absolutely delicious.
What You Need
- 1 banana, sliced into small discs
- Cooking spray
- 1 tablespoon dark chocolate chips
- ¾ cup Oikos Triple Zero vanilla Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon marshmallow creme, optional
A Note on the Marshmallow Creme
The marshmallow creme is totally optional, but I highly recommend it if you have some on hand. I used Toonie Moonie marshmallow creme, and it adds a subtle marshmallow flavor and makes the nice cream extra creamy and sweet.
You can absolutely leave it out for a simpler chocolate banana version.
How to Make Chocolate Banana Nice Cream
1. Caramelize the Banana
Spray a small frying pan with cooking spray and heat over medium heat. Add the sliced banana in a single layer.
Cook the banana slices until golden brown and caramelized on one side, then carefully flip and cook the other side until golden brown.
This step is what takes the banana from good to DECADANT.
2. Melt the Chocolate
Add the dark chocolate chips to a small ramekin or bowl.
Microwave for about 30 seconds, then remove and stir until smooth. If needed, microwave in additional 10-second increments until completely melted.
3. Make It Creamy
Add the caramelized banana slices to the melted chocolate and stir to coat.
Add the Greek yogurt and optional marshmallow creme. Stir everything together until creamy and smooth.
4. Chill
Place the bowl in the freezer for 10–20 minutes, or until it reaches your desired level of chilliness.
You can leave it in a little longer if you want a firmer texture, but I love it when it’s cold and creamy without becoming completely frozen.
5. Enjoy!
Grab a spoon and dig in!
This is especially good topped with a few extra chocolate chips, a drizzle of melted chocolate, or even a little extra marshmallow creme.
Recipe Tips for Chocolate Banana Nice Cream
Don't skip caramelizing the banana. You could technically add fresh banana, but caramelizing it brings out so much more flavor and sweetness.
Keep an eye on the chocolate. Dark chocolate can burn quickly in the microwave, so stir after the first 30 seconds and continue heating in short increments if necessary.
Adjust the chill time. 10-20 minutes will give you a cool, creamy texture, while closer to 1 hour will give you a firmer nice cream.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a different Greek yogurt for Chocolate Banana Nice Cream?
Absolutely! Vanilla Greek yogurt works beautifully here, but you can use your favorite vanilla or plain Greek yogurt. Keep in mind that the flavor and nutrition will vary depending on the brand.
Do I have to use dark chocolate?
Nope! Milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips would also work. Dark chocolate gives this recipe a richer, slightly less sweet chocolate flavor.
Can I skip the marshmallow creme?
Yes! The marshmallow creme is completely optional. It adds extra sweetness and a fun marshmallow flavor, but the recipe is still delicious without it.
Can I freeze the Chocolate Banana Nice Cream for longer?
You can, but the texture will become much firmer. If you freeze it for longer than the suggested 10–20 minutes, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before eating so it can soften.
