Why You'll Love These Sausage Sandwiches:

    • Quick & Easy: Ready in just 30 minutes, perfect for busy weeknights.
    • Customizable Heat: Use mild sausage for a family-friendly meal, or spice it up with hot sausage and crushed red pepper.
    • Rich Flavor: The combination of Italian seasoning, marinara sauce, and melty cheese makes each bite truly indulgent.

    Ingredients for Sausage Sandwiches:

    • 1 lb ground sausage (mild or spicy)
    • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
    • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
    • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
    • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
    • ¼ cup marinara sauce
    • Salt and pepper, to taste
    • 4 hoagie buns
    • Provolone or mozzarella cheese slices (optional)

    Instructions for Sausage Sandwiches:

    1. Cook the Sausage
In a large skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and the ground sausage. Break up the sausage with a spoon as it cooks for about 6-8 minutes, until browned and fully cooked. Transfer to a plate and set aside.

    2. Sauté the Vegetables
Add the remaining olive oil to the skillet. Toss in the sliced onion, bell pepper, and garlic, stirring occasionally for 5-7 minutes until the veggies soften and slightly caramelize. Add Italian seasoning, crushed red pepper flakes (if you like it spicy), and season with salt and pepper.

    3. Combine Sausage & Veggies
Return the sausage to the skillet and add the marinara sauce. Let everything cook together for 2-3 more minutes to meld the flavors.

    4. Assemble the Sandwiches
Toast the hoagie buns lightly. Spoon the sausage and pepper mixture into each bun. Add a slice of provolone or mozzarella cheese if you’d like, then broil for 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts to gooey perfection.

    5. Serve and Enjoy!
Serve your Sausage Pepper Sandwiches hot with a side of chips, salad, or fries.

    Tips for the Best Sandwiches:

    • Bread Choice: Hoagie buns are ideal, but any soft roll works. Toasting keeps them from getting soggy.
    • Sauce it Up: Try adding more marinara sauce if you like a saucy touch. Try a garlic or basil-flavored marinara for a twist.
    • Cheese Melting Hack: Broil the assembled sandwiches for just 1 minute for perfectly melted cheese.

These Sausage Pepper Sandwiches are truly a treat! Perfectly packed with bold flavors, they’re sure to become a family favorite for any night when comfort and convenience are key. And if you're looking for other easy dinners, I got you covered because I'm a busy working girl and don't have time to make complicated dinners!
