Oreo cookies have been a beloved treat for generations, and now, we're taking them to the next level by incorporating a cake mix into the recipe, making it easier than ever to whip them up. Get ready to indulge in the heavenly fusion of cake and cookie with these delightful Oreo Cookies made from a devil's food cake mix.

    This simple Oreo cookie recipe reminds me of my aunt because she always made these delicious cookies and brought them to family parties. I love how food ties directly to memories and people. Here's what you'll need to make these scrumptious cookies:

    Equipment

    • Baking sheet pan
    • Cookie scoop
    • Parchment paper
    • Standard mixer

    Ingredients

    Cookies:

    • Devil’s food cake mix (15.25oz)
    • Eggs
    • Vegetable oil 

    Filling:

    • Butter
    • Cream cheese, softened
    • Vanilla extract
    • Powdered sugar 

    Instructions

    For the Cookies:

    • Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
    • Mix the Batter: In a standard mixer, combine the dry cake mix, eggs, and vegetable oil. Expect a thick batter.
    • Form Dough Balls: Roll the cookie dough into 2-inch-sized balls and place them on the prepared cookie sheet.
    • Bake: Bake for 7 to 9 minutes or until the cookies start cracking slightly.
    • Cool and Transfer: Allow the cookies to cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a cooling rack.

    For the Filling:

    • Cream Cheese Mixture: Beat the cream cheese in a standard mixer. Add the softened butter and beat until smooth.
    • Add Vanilla and Sugar: Incorporate the vanilla extract, and gradually add in the powdered sugar. Continue to beat until a smooth frosting forms.

    Assembling the Cookies:

    • Frost the bottom of one of the cooled cookies and place the bottom of another cookie on top of the frosting to form little sandwich cookies. Repeat until all cookies are assembled.
