    Chocolate Cake for Two

Ingredients for Chocolate Cake for Two

    For the Cake:

    • ¼ cup granulated sugar
    • 1 ½ tablespoons cocoa powder
    • 1 egg yolk
    • 2 tablespoons milk
    • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
    • Dash of vanilla extract
    • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
    • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
    • ⅛ teaspoon baking soda
    • Pinch of salt
    • 2 tablespoons boiling water (I heat mine in the microwave until it’s bubbling)

    For the Ganache:

    • ¼ cup heavy cream
    • ¼ cup milk chocolate chips

Instructions for Chocolate Cake for Two

    Step 1: Preparing the Cake

    1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray two 6-ounce ramekins with cooking spray and place them on a baking sheet.
    2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a small bowl, whisk together the sugar, cocoa powder, egg yolk, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until well combined.
    3. Add Dry Ingredients: Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt to the wet mixture. Stir until just combined.
    4. Pour Boiling Water: Gradually pour in the boiling water and stir until the batter is smooth.
    5. Divide Batter: Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared ramekins.
    6. Bake: Place the baking sheet with the ramekins in the preheated oven and bake for about 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.

    Step 2: Making the Ganache

    1. Heat Heavy Cream: Heat the heavy cream in the microwave until very hot, about 1 minute.
    2. Mix with Chocolate Chips: Add the milk chocolate chips to the hot heavy cream and stir until the chocolate is melted and a smooth ganache forms.

    Step 3: Serving and Enjoying

    1. Pour Ganache: Once the cakes are done baking, pour the warm ganache over the top of each cake.
    2. Serve Warm: Serve the cakes warm, allowing the ganache to melt slightly into the cake.
    3. Indulge: Grab a spoon and dig into this treat with your loved one!
