There is just something about creamy crock pot hot chocolate that feels extra special. It’s richer, creamier, and somehow more nostalgic than anything made on the stovetop. This is my go-to recipe when I want a cozy drink that feels like a treat—but takes almost no effort.

Whether you’re hosting friends, watching a movie, or just want something warm on a cold night, this is one of those recipes you’ll come back to again and again.

Why You’ll Love This Crock Pot Hot Chocolate

    • Hands-off & easy – Toss everything in and let the crock pot do the work.
    • Ultra creamy – Heavy cream + sweetened condensed milk = dreamy texture.
    • Perfect for gatherings – Keeps warm and serves itself.
    • Customizable – Use milk or semi-sweet chocolate chips and fun toppings.
    • Comfort in a mug – Cozy, nostalgic, and always a hit.

What Makes This Crock Pot Hot Chocolate So Good

This isn’t watery hot chocolate—it’s thick, rich, and smooth thanks to the combination of heavy cream, milk, cocoa powder, and real chocolate chips. The sweetened condensed milk adds sweetness and depth without needing extra sugar, and the vanilla rounds everything out beautifully.

Making it in the crock pot allows the chocolate to melt slowly and evenly, giving you a perfectly smooth drink every time.

Ingredients for Crock Pot Hot Chocolate

    • 1 cup heavy cream
    • 2 cups milk
    • 4 oz sweetened condensed milk
    • ½ tablespoon vanilla extract
    • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
    • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (or milk chocolate, if preferred)

Toppings (optional): whipped cream, marshmallows, crushed candy canes, chocolate shavings, etc.

How to Make Crock Pot Hot Chocolate

    1. Add Ingredients

Add all ingredients (except toppings) to your crock pot.

    2. Cook Low & Slow

Cook on low for 1 hour, then stir well.

    3. Finish on High

Turn the temperature to high and cook for another 1 hour, stirring occasionally and scraping down the sides so nothing sticks.

    4. Serve & Enjoy

Once smooth and fully melted, serve warm with your favorite toppings.

    Topping Ideas

    • Whipped cream
    • Mini marshmallows
    • Crushed candy canes
    • Chocolate chips or shavings
    • Caramel drizzle
    • Peppermint extract (just a drop!)

Tips for Success in Crock Pot Hot Chocolate

    • Whisk the cocoa powder into the milk slightly before cooking if your crock pot runs hot.
    • Stir occasionally to keep the chocolate from sticking to the sides.
    • If it gets too thick, add a splash of milk to thin it out.

    Storage & Reheating

    • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 7 days.
    • Reheat gently on the stovetop or back in the crock pot on low.
    • Stir well before serving.

    Final Thoughts

This crock pot hot chocolate is the definition of cozy. It’s rich without being too heavy, easy enough for weeknights, and special enough for parties and holidays.

If you’re looking for a warm drink that everyone will love—and one that practically makes itself—this is it. Grab a mug, load it up with toppings, and enjoy every sip.
