There's nothing quite like homemade bread in my opinion. This bread recipe is so comforting, soft and pillowy, fluffy, and it fills your whole soul, I promise. The allure of freshly baked bread is hard to resist, and with this homemade bread recipe, you're in for a delicious treat. There's something special about the simplicity of creating your own fluffy slices and filling your kitchen with a comforting aroma, so let's get started.

Equipment
- Standard Mixer (KitchenAid is what I use)
- Bowls
- Other standard kitchen tools
Ingredients
Proofing Yeast:
- 1 cup warm water (108 degrees F)
- 1 ½ teaspoons yeast, active dry
- 1 ½ teaspoons sugar
Bread:
- 2 tablespoons melted butter, plus extra for brushing
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup evaporated milk (or regular milk)
- 3 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
- Butter to grease the bread pan
Instructions
Proofing the Yeast:
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, active dry yeast, and sugar. Allow it to sit for 5 - 7 minutes or until it starts to bubble.
Preparing the Dough:
- In a KitchenAid mixer, blend melted butter, sugar, salt, and evaporated milk. Add the bubbly yeast mixture and mix until combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Gradually add 2 cups of flour, mixing well. Continue adding the remaining flour ½ cup at a time until the dough no longer sticks to the sides of the bowl.
- Transfer the dough to a large greased bowl and let it rise for 1 to 1 ½ hours, or until it doubles in size.
Shaping and Rising:
- After the first rise, punch down the dough and knead it on a floured surface for 3 minutes. Place it in a greased bread pan.
- Cover the pan with a towel and let the dough rise for another 30 minutes, or until it has expanded in the pan.
- While the bread is rising again, preheat the oven to 375°F.
Baking and Finishing Touches:
- Once the dough is ready, place it in the middle rack of the oven and bake for 25 minutes.
- After the initial bake, cover the top of the bread pan with foil and bake for an additional 3 to 5 minutes.
- Remove the bread from the oven, liberally brush the top with butter, and let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing.
Serving and Enjoying:
- Slice the bread and savor it with your favorite butter or jam. The perfect balance of flavors and the soft, fluffy texture make every bite a moment of pure bliss.
My Favorite Way To Enjoy Homemade Bread
One of my favorite ways to enjoy this homemade bread recipe is to toast the bread and then put delicious Nutella and banana slices on top. I have this for breakfast on repeat OFTEN. Another way is to make avocado toast... now that is chef's kiss. This bread is versatile and will fit all your bread needs whether for sandwiches, Nutella toast, avocado toast, or anything in between. I hope you enjoy it!
