    Equipment

No fancy equipment is needed for this hot fudge pudding cake. Only typical kitchen tools are necessary.

    Ingredients

    • All-purpose flour
    • Granulated sugar
    • Unsweetened cocoa powder
    • Baking powder
    • Salt
    • Milk
    • Butter
    • Vanilla extract
    • Semisweet chocolate chips
    • Hot water
    • Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving (optional)
Needed ingredients to make the recipe.

    Instructions

    Preheat and Prepare:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9 baking dish and set it aside.

    Mix the Dry Ingredients:

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, ½ cup granulated sugar, ¼ cup cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

    Add Wet Ingredients:

Pour in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract into the dry ingredients. Mix until the batter becomes smooth.

    Chocolate Chips:

Stir in the semisweet chocolate chips. The batter will be thick and rich with chocolatey goodness.

    Spread the Love:

Evenly spread the batter in the prepared baking dish, ensuring a smooth and level surface.

    Cocoa Sprinkle:

In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining ¼ cup granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons cocoa powder. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter in the baking dish.

    Hot Water Addition:

Now, here comes the magic! Pour the hot water over the top of the batter and cocoa mixture. Resist the urge to stir; let the oven work its charm.

    Bake to Perfection:

Pop it into the oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until the cake is set and the top is slightly cracked.

    Cooling Moment:

Allow the hot fudge pudding cake to cool for 5 to 10 minutes before serving. This time is crucial for the flavors to meld and intensify.

    Serve and Enjoy:

Scoop out a warm, gooey portion and top it with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream if you desire. Each bite promises a symphony of textures and flavors that will leave you in dessert heaven.

    Variations & Substitutions

I highly recommend topping your cake with whipped cream or ice cream. You can use Cool Whip, but I prefer my homemade whipped cream that is so fluffy and creamy.
