Muddy Buddies (For the 4th of July)

These muddy buddies make for the perfect 4th of July snack since they're loaded with red, white, and blue M&Ms. Enjoy this sweet treat as you watch fireworks with your family and friends!

- 7 cups rice chex cereal
- ¾ cup semisweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons butter
- ¾ cup powdered sugar + 6 tablespoons
- 1 cup M&Ms the red, white & blue batch, I got mine from Costco
Measure 7 cups of Chex cereal and set it aside in a large mixing bowl.
On the stove top, melt the butter, chocolate chips and the peanut butter. Stir on medium heat until completely melted and smooth.
Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Pour the mixture over top of the Chex cereal. Stir using a spatula and gently fold until all cereal is evenly coated.
Pour the cereal into a ziplock bag and add the powdered sugar.
Seal the bag completely and shake until all the cereal pieces are well coated with powdered sugar.
If you need more powdered sugar, add in some more and shake until it’s reached your desired amount.
Spread the muddy buddies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Once completely cooled, sprinkle M&Ms on top and enjoy!
- Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
