For the Buns:
- 1 cup warm milk 105–110°F
- 2¼ teaspoons 1 packet active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2½ –3 cups bread flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
- 1 large egg
For the Top of the Buns:
- 1 egg for the egg wash
- Sesame seeds optional to sprinkle on top
In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and honey. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
Add the egg, butter, salt, and 2½ cups flour. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead for 5 to 7 minutes, adding more flour as needed until the dough is soft and slightly tacky.
Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1½ hours, or until doubled.
Divide into 6 equal pieces, shape into buns, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover and let rise for 45 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 375°F. Brush the buns with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds, if desired.
Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool for 15 minutes before slicing.
